We hold assemblies, prize givings, class and visitor performances in the multi purpose room, and it is also used by the choir, dance troupe, Kapa Haka group and other school groups.

Quadrangle

We have a large central grass area for outdoor play, and assemblies which is ideal for large
group activities, weather permitting. This courtyard area has a number of sunsafe shades, making it an ideal passive play area for students, and the much larger back field along with Ashurst Park (HCC fields) are used for more active pursuits.

Aquatic Centre

We have an Aquatic Centre with a 25m 6x lane
solar heated pool and an attached 8m x 6m learner pool. It also has all season changing facilities, which are used as changing rooms for winter sports events. Our school has a proud aquatic record with students achieving above average as swimmers and in all water safety areas. All students have regular swimming over the summer and staff are trained "Swim Safe" tutors. The pool is open to the public over the summer and is also made available to neighbouring schools by prior arrangement as part of our HCC partnership programme.

We hold either a swimming sports day or a swimming display in our syndicates with teams then chosen for inter-school events from the middle through to senior syndicates. We host a North-West Interschool Triathlon and a PCT Police Challenge utilising the pool in conjunction with our available field space.

We purchased new lane ropes in 2015, new storage facilities and hope to be able to update some of our swimming gear in 2015 as well.

This is a very popular play area for students (and staff) during recess and lunchtimes and is also used extensively during our physical education / sports programmes involving all students of all ages.
