At Te Rapa Primary School, Netball is offered to all students although some levels are modified versions of the 7 a side game.
At Te Rapa we are lucky enough to have the astro-turf to train on rather than on concrete.
The competition is run during Terms 2 and 3 of each year.
Year 6-8 Netball
Year 6 teams play on a Thursday afternoon and the Year 7 and 8 teams play on a Saturday morning.
There are opportunities for skilled Year 6, 7 and 8 players to be part of a High Performance Programme or gain representative honours in the Waikato age group teams. We at Te Rapa are proud of the many children who we have had involved with these teams and programmes.
Year 5 Netball
This year, Year 5’s will be playing a modified version of netball, having 6 players on the court, two defence, two attacks and two mid court players. Most of the rules stay the same, although there are some slight changes which players will learn about.
They play on a Thursday night.
Junior Netball: Year 1-4
Hamilton City Netball also runs a Future Ferns Programme for Year 1 to 4 children.
The Year 1-2 programme is skills based with a short game at the end of the session. These skills based sessions and games are played on one third of the court. The Year 1-2 teams play on Wednesday night.
The Year 3-4 programme is skills based with a short game at the end of each session. These sessions are played on two thirds of the court. The Year 3-4 teams play on Tuesday night.
Students interested in playing netball at any level during Term 2 and 3 should see Miss Curtis in Room 14 for further information.
